September Beer Club Release

BEER. club.

I'm so excited.

Because today we start BEER. club.

Which is a little like Fight Club except with less bruising the next day.

Since this is brand new for y'all, I'll give you a short rundown on what you can expect, then we'll get into the beers for this month, then we'll have some FAQs and then we'll all jump for joy that life loved us enough to give us this, my favorite fermented beverage. (Run-on sentences makes me twitch a little, no joke.)

OK.
So, for $35 + tax per month, here's what you get:

  • One six-pack of beer worth at least $25

  • One punch card that we will keep for you, that's worth 10 $1 off pints per month. These expire every month and do not roll over.

  • 20% off our Cruiser Chicken and hummus plates, unlimited

  • Access to an exclusive keg of beer every third Saturday of the month, (regular customers won't be able to buy this beer until the following week-it won't even show up on the menu that day).

  • The special beer club keg will be available to you on the third Saturday of the month for unlimited $1 off pints that day only, and this DOESN'T count on your monthly punch card.

  • Exclusive BEER. club. beers in your six pack, (noted below) will be available for purchase for members only on the third Saturday. After that Saturday, they'll be available to anyone.

  • The respect and admiration of your peers for being open to trying new things

  • Priority reservations at the bar top. Because beer tastes better there. Just sayin'.

Now for the beers!

BEER. club. exclusive keg:

Speedrunner PNW IPA
Logan Brewing (Burien, WA)
6.5% ABV. 42 IBUs
Hopped with Amarillo and Ekuanot
I really love everything I've had from Logan so far and this is no exception. They're a geeky brewery that does everything right. I went and picked this keg up myself because being only a little over a year old, they don't distribute very far. Plus, you gotta respect a brewery that sprung for the extra cash it took to get the .beer part of their url. These guys got it in the bag. From their website: "Speedrunner is a classic Pacific Northwest IPA running at you with fruity orange aromas and a resiny citrus flavor. Brewed and dry-hopped with generous amounts of Washington State’s own Amarillo and Ekuanot hops and complemented with a malt backbone of 2-Row and Munich barley to provide a balanced and compelling West Coast IPA."

BEER. club. six pack:

Exclusive - Level Brewing Colder Than You Are IPA (Portland, OR) - Style: Cold IPA. 6.9% ABV.
Made in collaboration with Zoiglhaus Brewing Company in Portland, OR, one of the absolute premier lager breweries in Oregon. This brand new style of IPA was fermented with lager yeast but in slightly warmer temperatures to extract unique fruity flavors. This crisp, dry, and clear IPA is hopped with Nelson Sauvin, Strata and Sabro hops for a wonderful tropical citrus flavor profile.

Exclusive - 450 North Blurriest Slushie XXXL (Columbus, IN) - Style: Slushie sour. ABV: ...unclear.
Challenging what you thought of as "beer", slushie beers have so much fruit in them you may want to open the can over the sink. This emerging beer trend takes the centuries-old idea of adding fruit syrups to sour beers, and pushes it to the absolute extreme. Stay with us on this one if you're not a sour beer fan, this beer really drinks like a fruit smoothie with no sugar; think of fresh fruit having a slight tartness to it. This one was fermented with banana, blackberry, raspberry and mango. Maybe the best breakfast beer ever? This beer is very rare and in very high demand. It's also one of the very few cases in the entire state, so our beer club is one of the only ways to try it!

Ferment Brewing Summer IPA (Hood River, OR) - Style: IPA. 6% ABV.
Easy-drinking IPA with notes of tropical fruit and citrus. ALTERNATE (because Lyra goofed): Single Hill Eastside IPA (Yakima, WA) - Style: IPA. 6.8% ABV, 40 IBUs.
Award-winning IPA that blends a west coast style with 100% eastside ingredients.

Varietal Sunflight Citrus Wheat (Sunnyside, WA) - Style: American wheat. 5.1% ABV.
A touch of creaminess in this American wheat ale balances out the addition of lemon and orange zest.

Fortside Land of Sky Blue Waters (Vancouver, WA) - Style: Helles lager. 4.9% ABV, 11 IBUs.
A light, dry lager made with all salmon safe ingredients.

Three Creeks Stonefly - Style: Session ale. 4.8% ABV, 24 IBUs.
Great American Beer Festival 2021 gold medal winner for the session ale category, rye and honey malt give this thirst-quenching ale a deeper color and spicier body.

If you'd like to change your club, send us an email: lyra@plateauwineandbeer.com. If you just tell us at the shop, or message us on Facebook, or text me or, HEAVEN FORBID, you only tell Mikey, there's a very good chance it won't get changed.

FAQs

Q: What does IBU mean?
A: International Bitterness Units. Generally speaking, the higher the number, the more bitter the beer will be, BUT there are a lot of competing factors that make this measurement something you should experiment with before you turn away a beer for thinking it will be too bitter. Things like your personal perception of bitterness, (it's different for everyone) and other ingredients in the beer that have a mellowing effect, like bolder-flavored stouts that can hide their bitterness with lots of dark, smooth malts.

Q: If I totally hate a beer in my six pack, can I exchange it for something else?
A: Sure. Anything of equal or lesser value, as long as we have something that fits the bill. And we may not be able to exchange it right away...there's fancy algorithms, magic fluff and voodoo hoodery that needs to happen first.

Q: If I totally hate the exclusive keg on tap, can I drink something else on that third Saturday that doesn't apply to my punch card?
A: Yup. Pick one keg and go for it. We're not here to cause you grief and make your tongue mad at you. But remember, the intention is to try new things, right? And sometimes you have to try them a few times to find out you actually enjoy them...

Q: Can I buy my friends discounted pints of the exclusive keg of beer on the third Saturday?
A: You can, but it'll cost you a punch on your card. Can't have everything!!!

Q: Can I buy my friends extras of the exclusive beers from my monthly six pack on the third Saturday?
A: As long as you buy them, you betcha.

Q: Why is it "BEER. club."? That looks weird and I don't like it.
A: My fingers just typed it that way and I didn't argue with them. Plus, I'm interested in how it will make people say it...will you say the word, "beer" louder? And the word, "club" quieter? Basically, I'm just an evil business owner who likes to experiment on my customers.
